I’m a lifelong fly fisherman, passionate outdoors person and avid fly caster. Over the past 15 years I’ve guided hundreds of anglers onto some of the best fish of their lives.
Fishing with me ensures that guests gain access to a vast array of local experience and knowledge, plus information on all aspects of saltwater fly fishing, fly tying, knots, fishing techniques for various species and advanced casting. The boat has been custom designed and built specifically for fly fishing
‘Reel Fly’ is a 6m (20ft) centre console by Galeforce Boats in Queensland, powered by a 140 Suzuki 4 stroke. There’s safe rod storage for multiple fly rods, plenty of space for gear and two uncluttered casting platforms, allowing two anglers to fly fish.
Once on the flats, a bow mounted electric motor allows us to silently stalk fish in the shallows, the boat providing a perfectly stable platform to fish from.
At the same time she’s able to handle the open water too, providing anglers the opportunity to fish for billfish in the ocean.

Exmouth Fly Fishing was formed in 2010 by myself, Jono Shales. I’ve spent thousands of hours exploring and mastering the techniques, tides and best times to fish and have opened the door to a vast array of species here. It’s literally a fly fishing smorgasbord.
The more time you have to enjoy all of this, the better your chances are of targeting trophy species, while learning everything there is to know about saltwater fly fishing.
In 2015 I expanded the business and established a private and exclusive guest house to accommodate travelling anglers.
